Informal Learning

Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery provides an inspirational programme of informal learning sessions and creative practical workshops for both children and adults, delivered by the Informal Learning Team or specialist artists.
 

Workshops for Children

We can offer a wide range of activities for non-school groups including:

  • Taught sessions across Art, History, Literature and cross-curricular
  • Fun art and craft workshops
  • Artefact handling and replica costumes
  • Worksheets and trails to explore the collections
  • General guided tours
  • Educational / Craft sessions for under 5s

Topics include Ancient Egypt, Ancient Greeks, 17th Century, 18th Century, the Victorians, Pre-Raphaelites, and World War 2.

To book a session, or if you wish to focus on a topic not listed above, please contact the Informal Learning Team and we will be delighted to discuss your requirements. Please be aware that there may be a charge for group bookings, please contact us for details.

Adult Learning

A wide range of adult learning opportunities and events are held at Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery and the Museum Collections Centre. You can find out more about our exhibitions and collections through tours and talks, try out a new art technique or practice your skills at one of our friendly and relaxed artist-led workshops, have a facilitated visit with a group, or come along to one of our many other special events.
