The HP sauce factory came to Aston at the turn of the twentieth century. The recipe had been given over to the owner of the vinegar factory, originally on this site, as part payment of an outstanding debt.

Aston Cross clock dates from 1906. It replaces an earlier mid nineteenth century one. The clock was moved to its current location from an original position just a few yards away, to fit in with the changing road pattern.
