The
Children’s
War
The session begins by looking
at air raids and the effect
of bombing on everyday life,
with particular focus on Birmingham.
Children use photographs and
genuine artefacts to discover
more about life during the
war. The second part of the
session focuses on evacuation,
with the opportunity for some
children to dress up as evacuees.
Children then learn about rationing,
with a chance to measure-out
rationed food and discuss what
might have been made with it.
