The Museum Collections
Centre is a fully working Collections
Centre, with large items of equipment,
objects being prepared for display
and to be loaned to other museums,
and is therefore unlike a normal
museum visit. The Centre houses
over 500,000 objects from Egyptian
mummies to large steam engines – many
of which are both valuable and
of extreme historic importance.
This Spring, the education
service will be piloting a programme
of two new History, Science and
Cross-curricular sessions for
Key Stage 2 and 3 at the Museum
Collections Centre.
The
new sessions have been designed
so that pupils can explore the
collections and look at artefacts
through new eyes in the unusual
and exciting environment which
the Centre provides. For more information
about the sessions available please
visit the teaching
sessions page.
