Hands-On History Workshop
The Museum of the Jewellery Quarter provides a chance for your pupils to discover how this famous part of Birmingham has changed over time from Victorian Britain to today. The visit can offer opportunities to:
  • Search for evidence of life in the past in the area.
  • Find out about the technological and economic history of the Jewellery Industry.
  • Learn about working conditions from Victorian times, through the 1930's to the present day.
  • Take a guided tour of the Smith and Pepper Factory - an amazingly well preserved historic building.
  • Make souvenirs to record the visit

Visits to the Museum of the Jewellery Quarter are FREE to schools. We strongly recommend that teachers arrange a free pre-visit in preparation for the day.

Sessions usually commence at 10am and last for approximately 2 hours. Booking is essential as we can only accommodate one class at a time. There is also a lunchroom available if required. For more information with regards to the sessions available please visit the Teaching Sessions page.
