The Water Wheel
- D6
The water wheel catches the
water as it pours out of the
sluice gate. The wooden parts
of the water wheel are called
buckets.
The force of gravity
is pulling the water downwards
and as it
falls, the weight turns the wheel
round.
Water is heavy. 1 litre
has a mass of 1 kilogram. The
water wheel turns gears which
make the mill stones go
round.
