Pulleys can change the speed of a machine.

If the small pulley is driving the larger pulley, the larger pulley will go around more slowly.

If the large pulley is driving the smaller pulley, the smaller pulley will go around faster.

If the pulleys are the same size, they will go around at the same speed.
