Inventions

Printing was first invented in China about 600 AD.

Moveable metal type (letters) was developed by a German, and the first printing press was set up in England by William Caxton in 1476.

Before the printing press every book had to be hand written. Hundreds of scribes now found themselves out of work!

Few changes had such dramatic consequences. No longer was reading going to be just for the privileged few.
