Tudor The measurement of time Watches were the achievement of the Tudor clock makers. The weights of a mechanical clock could not be made too small or it would not work. The invention of a spiral spring that could be wound tightly, allowed it to power a clock small enough to be carried in a pocket. It was called a watch because sailors kept watch for a fixed period of time at sea, it was thought these sort of people would find a watch useful. Can you describe the Tudor watch in the picture?
