Medieval
Warfare
The archers
dominated Medieval warfare. Every able bodied man was required to practise
at 'the butts' for a number of days a year.
The Welsh used a special long bow. When Edward
I finally defeated the Welsh in the late thirteenth century, the longbowmen
and their skills were brought into the English army.
They were used to devastating effect in the
Hundred Years War against against the French. The skills of the longbowmen
won the Battle of Agincourt for Henry V despite the fact his soldiers
were hugely outnumbered.
The trebuchet in the picture was used in castle
sieges. How do you think it worked?
