An Indian child celebrating Holi

Holi is a spring festival celebrated by Hindus and Sikhs on the last day of winter, on the last full moon of the lunar month. The festival is thought to have begun as early as the 7th century and represents the energy and new life of the new season. Holi is celebrated by throwing coloured powder and water at other people to represent energy and joy.
