Lipstick and Makeup
Lipstick is a cosmetic product containing pigments, oils and waxes that add colour and texture to the lips. Forms of lipstick can be dated back to the Ancient Indus Valley Civilization (3300-1300 BCE).
As with most other types of makeup, lipstick is typically worn by women from adolescence onwards. The most common colour for lipstick is red. Red is often associated with heat, energy and passion. In many societies, the lips are considered a prominent and sensual part of the body. Wearing lipstick allows a person to accentuate the appearance of their lips.
