This teddy was made in about 1951. My Dad had it for his first Christmas.
The nose got so worn out through him chewing it when he was a baby that my Nanna had to
darn it with sock darning wool. The dark bit on his tummy is his squeak. It doesn't work
anymore because he took it out into the garden and forgot it. It rained in the night and
the bear got wet and he never squeaked again. My Dad was very upset at the time |

This Sooty Puppet belonged to my Auntie. It was made in about 1957. It is
made out of yellow velvet material with a cardboard tube inside to put your finger in to
hold its head up. This kind of puppet was called a glove puppet because it fitted over
your hand like a glove. This one was modelled on a puppet that was on Television in the
1950s and 1960s. |
