Origin

Bricks

Bricks are made from clay soil dug from the ground.

The bricks used for building seventeenth century Aston Hall were made nearby.

Stones were sieved from the clay which was then pressed into rectangular moulds.

The bricks were left to dry before stacking over channels of burning charcoal and baking at a high temperature.
