Stream habitat |
A habitat
is where an organism (a plant or animal) lives.
The habitat provides food and shelter for the organisms living there. Organisms must be adapted (designed) to survive in their habitat. |
A stream is a large habitat. The water in a stream is flowing (moving) all the time. The stream running through Woodgate Valley is called the Bourn Brook |
There are lots of stones on the bottom of the stream. Each stone is a small habitat. Small animals can shelter (hide) under these stones. Some of these animals feed on the algae (plants) that grow on these stones. Some animals feed on other animals. |
